Dear Parents and Students,
As we start preparing for the 2023-2024 school year, we are looking forward to spending this year with your child. The updated technology in each classroom will continue to be utilized daily as will Google Classroom. Important information will continue to be posted on each subject page on Google Classroom.
All students are expected to follow the given schedule which will be provided the first week of school. Our school day is 7:50am - 2:30pm. All children must have their own supplies.
Expectations for Seventh and Eighth Grade
1. You will be prepared each day with all necessary books and supplies.
2. You will complete all unfinished class assignments for homework.
3. You will do all work neatly and to the best of your ability.
4. You will be attentive to what is going on in class and be an active participant in all we do. Constant disruption and inattentiveness will result in a deduction of points from the respective subject’s quarter average. Parents will be notified if this becomes a problem.
5. Cheating on or talking during a test or quiz, in any subject, will result in a grade of zero.
6. Plagiarizing book reports, oral reports, research papers, or homework/classwork will result in a grade of zero for that assignment. This grade will be calculated into your report card average.
7. You must come to school in full uniform (REFER TO HANDBOOK). Failure to do so will result in a disciplinary referral as specified in the school handbook.
8. There will be no dropping of grades or retests.
9. Not handing in a graded assignment (i.e., classwork, homework, projects, etc.) will result in a grade of zero.
10. Be prepared to make up any tests you have missed, due to absence, on the day you return back to school.
11. NO ADDITIONAL OR INDIVIDUAL EXTRA-CREDIT WORK WILL BE GIVEN.
12. All work must be written in dark blue or black pen, except for math which is always written in pencil. If permitted, an assignment may be typewritten.
13. Notebooks are an invaluable source of information and should be kept neat and orderly.
*Notebooks will be graded.
*Notebooks are for classwork NOT for scribbling, artwork, etc.
*Sloppy and/or incomplete notebooks WILL result in a deduction of points in that respective subject.
14. Please be vigilant about checking EDUCATE to monitor your child's progress.
15. In fostering responsibility and accountability, we ask that the student, themselves, email their teachers with questions they may have. Students must only use their Blessed Sacrament email when communicating with teachers and other students. Teachers' email addresses are posted above and on the class website.
16. Your student is expected to carry themselves in a mature fashion every day. It ensures that effective learning is taking place and ensures student safety.
Homework Policy for All Classes
1. You will complete all homework assignments. Any homework not completed in its entirety will result in a deduction of points from the respective subject’s quarter average. Homework is always checked, periodically collected, and sometimes graded, with or without notice. There will be 5 points deducted from the student’s quarterly homework grade for each incident of missing homework.
2. If absent, homework must be obtained and made up by the student.
3. Points will be deducted for sloppy and incomplete homework.
4. At times, homework may be internet-based.
5. Homework, reminders, projects, and test schedules will be posted on each teachers' Google Classroom. Homework will also be posted on the blackboard in your homeroom. BE SURE TO CHECK EACH TEACHER’S WEBSITE DAILY FOR ASSIGNMENTS PERTAINING TO THEIR CLASS.
